knowHowe Ltd aims to provide friendly and affordable web design and software development. My clients tend to be small organisations, probably because we share an idea of what is important: affordability, friendly service, enthusiasm to excel in even the smallest project. I do however have at least one large organisation in the portfolio!

The company was founded in January 2003 by Tim Howe, an IT professional whose 20 years of industry experience is built on a degree in Computing and Statistics, and who brings to bear expertise gained in a variety of settings, including

Wide experience at board and consultancy level is provided by Catherine Howe who, if you're lucky, will also be involved in your project (typically as project manager or web strategy advisor - but this depends upon the project). A full-time director with local-authority webcasting specialists Public-i, Catherine has a degree in Philosophy, a masters in Systems Analysis and Design, and a broad range of IT and business skills and knowledge.

In common with web developers worldwide, knowHowe Ltd uses amazing Open Source tools to build and drive its sites.

Windows

Our tool of choice for Windows software development is Borland's technically superb Delphi Studio, which enables the construction of robust and optimized Windows executables from fully object-orientated code. Other tools (eg. Microsoft's Excel, Access, Visual Basic for Applications) are used where appropriate - see the portfolio for examples.

Tim is an incredibly talented web programmer and web designer. I could leave it at that, but you may be left wondering how and why I came to that conclusion. Well, he very quickly proved his versatility when he contributed to two projects I was working on back in 2003 - a website to support the sale of wildlife content on mobile phones, and an electronic ecards site. There didn't seem to be much he couldn't do and his versatility, knowledge and enthusiam was refreshing, as well as incredibly useful. Despite working in IT myself, severe time constraints lead me to look for someone else to put my own personal consultancy site together - kiwanja - and I naturally chose Tim. Putting my total faith in him, he very quickly put together an excellent site and hosting package.
